Two Eastern Conference rivals trending in the right direction will meet tonight at Barclays Center when the Washington Wizards face the Brooklyn Nets.
Tonight’s matchup should be fast and loose, but my Wizards vs. Nets predictions don’t expect Washington guard Jordna Poole to benefit by having a big scoring night.

My analysis
Tonight’s matchup between the Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets could be intriguing. Washington traded Kyle Kuzma to the Bucks for Khris Middleton, leaving the Wizards thin tonight.
Wizards guard Jordan Poole will have to be the man tonight, but too many personal fouls and turnovers have the veteran guard riding the scoring struggle bus.
Poole has been hot from downtown (more on that later), and his shooting percentages are career-highs, but none of that has helped him score big consistently.
What I mean by “big” is he hasn’t cleared 22+ points in eight of his previous nine, and I’m betting the former Michigan Wolverine continues that trend against Brooklyn tonight.
This Nets defense has been stingy, allowing fewer than 110 points in each of its last seven. They’ve won three straight and know if they slow Poole, they can turn the Wizards into Warlocks and win this game. I’m betting they do just that.

While I don’t believe Poole will score big tonight offensively, I do like him to drain three triples, and I’ll grab the alternate Under as Brooklyn struggles to score and relies on its defense to win games.
Poole is having a career year from downtown. He drains 39% of his nearly 10 attempted threes per game. The Wizards guard has made 3+ triples in 10 of his past 12 games and faces a Brooklyn defense that allows 13 triples per night.
While I like Poole to do what he typically does, I don’t believe the faster pace or a nice night from downtown from the Wizards guard turns this contest into a high-scoring affair.
Brooklyn scores the fewest points per home game (102) while surrendering 111 and is 14-8 to the Under. Washington’s road games are 13-11 to the Under, and these teams have stayed Under in six of their last 10 meetings.
