There are some upcoming astronomy events to mark down on your March 2025 calendar which features two eclipses.
March 2025 is packed with many holidays and celebrations that will leave people wishing they had an extra day or two off to enjoy all of it.
March brings the dawn of spring and plenty of holidays and celebrations to ring in the new season.
The Christian season of Lent and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, both periods of fasting, prayer and worship, will also begin during the first week of March 2025.
But March has a lot in store, including Mardi Gras, Women’s History Month, St. Patrick’s Day, and International Transgender Day of Visibility.

Are there any federal holidays in March?
No. Despite how eventful the month will be, there are no federal holidays.
In total, 2025 has 12 federal holidays across 11 days, according to the Office of Personnel Management. The next one, Memorial Day, won’t be until May 26.
César Chávez Day
Although there are no federal holidays in March, César Chávez Day is a federal commemorative holiday and a state holiday.
The holiday honors the life of Chávez, a civil rights and labor movement activist, according to the White House. In 2014, then-President Barack Obama proclaimed March 31, Chávez’s birthday, to be a federal commemorative holiday.
Commemorative holidays are similar to federal holidays in that the government acknowledges both days, according to USA.gov, but for the former, federal offices nationwide do not close for the day.
Since César Chávez Day is a state holiday, it could impact if schools and federal buildings open in certain states.
The day is considered a state holiday and a commemorative holiday in the following states, according to Office Holidays:

- Illinois
- Michigan
- New Mexico
- Rhode Island
- Texas
- Utah
