Husky Hoops To Host Rutgers For First Ever Matchup


SEATTLE – The Washington women’s basketball team (14-12, 5-9 Big Ten) will host Rutgers Thursday night at 6 p.m. for the second to last home game of the 2024-25 season.

Thursday’s Black History Month Game with the Scarlet Knights will be aired on B1G+ with Jason Dorow (play-by-play) and Charli Turner Thorne (analyst) on the call. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM. 

This will be the first ever meeting between Rutgers and Washington.

LAST TIME OUT

The Huskies are coming off a close battle at home with then-No. 6 USC at home, losing 69-64.

Sayvia Sellers, who has averaged 21.3 points per game in her last three outings, led the charge with 24 points and three assists.

Hannah Stines recorded her first career double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Elle Ladine added 11 points and five rebounds while Dalayah Daniels chipped in 10 points, six boards, and two blocks.

Washington is looking to snap a three-game skid, dropping eight of its last conference games, four of which came against ranked opponents.

SCOUTING REPORT

Rutgers (10-16, 2-13 Big Ten) is 17th in the league under third year head coach Coquese Washington.

The Scarlet Knights have lost two of their last three and four of their last five. Rutgers has picked up two conference wins over Purdue and Penn State.

Rutgers is last in the league in field goal percentage (36.7%) and second to last in three-point percentage (28.5%). In conference play, Washington is second in field goal percentage (47.9%) and third from behind the arc (38.5%).
