The San Francisco Giants look to send their last postcard as they conclude a 10-game road trip with a series finale against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday afternoon at Angel Stadium.
Mike Trout is set up to have a productive day at the office, so I’m taking a closer look at the well-respected vet’s player props with my Giants vs. Angels predictions and MLB picks for Sunday, April 20.

My Giants vs Angels best bet: Mike Trout Over 1.5 total bases (+120 at Caesars)
Mike Trout is a legendary baseball player who, unfortunately, just can’t stay on the field. Well, lucky enough for baseball fans, he’s healthy to start 2025. He’s not quite dominating yet (.189/.279/.527 slash line), but it’s only a matter of time.
The San Francisco Giants send out veteran Justin Verlander to the mound on Sunday, and it’s a hold-your-breath situation given his 6.75 ERA, especially considering he’s on the road.
Verlander’s a legend, but his 31st percentile xERA and 22nd xBA make one consider the effects of time and the natural happenings of a life well-lived. The most notable aspect of his 2024 profile is that he had severe reverse splits, posting a .303 AVG and a 5.33 xFIP against right-handed hitters.
So, are there any Los Angeles Angels bats who hit righties well?
Let’s return to that Mike Trout fella. The future Hall of Famer crushed righties to the tune of a 156 wRC+ and .389 wOBA in 2024 and is ready to do more against a pitcher who has already seen the best of his days.
Verlander attacks righties with a steady diet of four-seamers (51.1%) and sliders (29.9%). Trout smiles while swimming downstream against those numbers, posting a career 183 wRC+ against the four-seamer and a 142 wRC+ against sliders.
There might be some folks who point to his lack of success (5-for-43) against Verlander in the past, but it’s just that — the past. Verlander has seen better days, and Trout still has plenty of power (.338 ISO).
The weather favors hitters, as it will be a sunny day with temperatures above 70 degrees and winds of 8 to 9 mph blowing out to right-center field. There’s plus money being offered on Trout to exceed 1.5 total bases — and I’m buying.

Yusei Kikuchi stands to benefit from a matchup against a San Francisco lineup that struggles to hit left-handed pitching. The Giants have an 80 wRC+ and .280 wOBA against southpaws while striking out 27.2% of the time.
Kikuchi is averaging 5.5 strikeouts per game, and his strikeout prop is priced up at 6.5 for good reason against a beatable opponent. The Giants have a 2-5 record against left-handed pitching, so I’m fading them until they prove capable, as that correlates with the Trout Over.
