PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Fire crews responded to a fast-moving brush fire on South Mountain in Phoenix Saturday night.
The fire was burning near Baseline Road and 40th Street around 8 p.m.
Firefighters say the blaze grew to one acre before they could contain the flames.
The Phoenix Police Department’s Firebird helicopter provided overhead lighting to help firefighting efforts on the rough terrain.
Although residents in the area reported seeing the flames from their homes, fire officials say the flames never threatened any homes or structures.
No injuries have been reported at this time. Fire investigators are working to identify what caused the fire.
