Temperatures across San Diego County will remain significantly cooler than normal into the weekend, and there could be drizzle from the inland valleys to the mountains on Wednesday and Thursday, the National Weather Service says.
The good news: It will be mostly sunny on Sunday, when many people celebrate Easter and when Passover ends for others.
A low pressure system is causing the marine layer to thicken, blotting out sunlight. San Diego’s daytime high temperature will reach only 63 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday and 65 on Friday and Saturday. The average high this time of year is 69.
The drizzle will do virtually nothing to lift seasonal rainfall. San Diego International Airport has recorded 4.19 inches of precipitation since the rainy season began on Oct. 1. That’s 4.80 inches below normal. There is no significant rain in the long-term forecast.
Mixed swells from the south and the west will produce 2-to-4-foot surf at local beaches through Friday, forecasters say. Sea surface temperatures will remain in the 58-to-61-degree range.
