Chad Gable reveals he spoke with Minnesota Sports Authority when news circulated that Minnesota might host WWE WrestleMania

Gable was hoping that WrestleMania would be in his home state.

In early 2024, a story emerged that Minnesota Sports and Events submitted their pitch to host WWE WrestleMania 41 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Several months later, it was revealed that due to ‘a change in direction by ownership,’ it was decided to go with Las Vegas, Nevada hosting the two-night event.

Minnesota’s own Chad Gable remembers hearing about the news and he shared a note about that while on The Ringer Wrestling Show. At SummerSlam 2024, Gable spoke to representatives from the Minnesota Sports Authority about the possibility of them securing a WrestleMania. Gable said he was heartbroken when he found out it was not happening.

I was heartbroken (when I found out Minnesota was not hosting WrestleMania). Of course I was (lobbying for it to happen). I was geeking on that and then the SummerSlam before that, when the rumors were kind of circulating about that, I had met with the Minnesota Sports Authority. They were at SummerSlam discussing various things. I don’t know what goes on exactly but I had mentioned to the people that were there. They were like, ‘That’s part of the reason we’re here’ and I was like, ‘Oh!’ Just geeked and then I was just heartbroken. But we got SummerSlam, which is gonna be great and just what works out and this is a tangent but the Special Olympic Games are also gonna be in Minneapolis in the same summer, like coinciding almost at the same time, which I’ve been named an ambassador for. My nephew is involved in Special Olympics so it’s gonna be super cool because I just imagine we’re gonna do so much crossover stuff with them at the time. Yeah, so it’s gonna be an exciting time and Minneapolis, for those that don’t know or aren’t familiar, it’s such an awesome city. It flies under the radar. But we had Raw there two weeks ago in my hometown and all the roster members that were there that I keep in touch with and talk with, they were all just like, ‘Dude, this city rocks.’

Minneapolis will be hosting the 2026 SummerSlam Premium Live Event which will be a two-night event on August 1st and 2nd.
