Student critical after he’s stabbed multiple times at N.J. high school, cops say

A Fort Lee High School student was in critical condition after he was stabbed multiple times Tuesday by another student in school, authorities said.

UPDATE: Student charged with attempted murder

The stabbing occurred shortly before 11 a.m. at the high school at 3000 Lemoine Ave., according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

“The victim was transported to an area hospital,” said Jeff Angermeyer, chief of detectives for the prosecutor’s office.

The student, whose name and age were not released, was in critical but stable condition at an area hospital as of Tuesday afternoon.

He was allegedly stabbed by another student, who was taken into custody at the school, Angermeyer said.

The other student is also a minor and his name was not released. It was unclear if charges had been filed.

Angermeyer said the prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit was investigating with Fort Lee police.

“Please avoid the area while the preliminary investigation is underway,” Angermeyer said.

Schools Superintendent Robert Kravitz said in a note to parents that all roads leading to the school have been blocked off.

“At this time, there is no immediate threat to the safety of our school community,” Kravitz said. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.”
