No. 10 Arizona Secures Series Victory over Arizona State


TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 10 Arizona won the second game against Arizona State, 5-1, to secure the series victory over the Sun Devils.
 
The Wildcats scored five runs on nine hits and four players had two or more hits in the game. Dakota Kennedy led the offense with three hits and Devyn Netz went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
 
Netz led Arizona to the victory in the circle, pitching a complete game and striking out five while allowing just one run. She hit a two-run home run and an RBI single to help the offense.
 
Arizona opened the game with one run in the first inning. Dakota Kennedy came home from second base on a shallow single from Devyn Netz to plate the first run for the Cats.
 
In the third, the Cats added two more runs to take a 3-0 lead over the Sun Devils. With runners at second and third, Kaiah Altmeyer singled through the right side to score both runners for Arizona.
 
Arizona scored two in the sixth to extend the lead to 5-0. Devyn Netz hit her 10th home run of the season – a two-run shot to left center – to drive in both runs for Arizona. 
 
ASU scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single but Netz struck out the final batter to win the game.

Arizona will close out the series against Arizona State on Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m. MST.
