6 Eagles players earn AP All-Pro team honors

AP All-Pro voting results from a national panel of 50 media members were announced on Friday and six Philadelphia Eagles players made the team.

Two Eagles players earned first-team All-Pro honors: Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun.

Four Eagles players earned second-team All-Pro honors: A.J. Brown, Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, and Jalen Carter.

Some thoughts:

  • As an MVP candidate who nearly broke the single-season NFL rushing record, Barkley was an obvious choice. He received 48 of 50 votes. This is the first time Barkley has earned All-Pro honors.
  • Really glad to see that Baun wasn’t snubbed. Thought there was a chance that might happen due to the lack of his track record before this season. But that would’ve been silly since he’s been so awesome this year. Baun was actually THE top vote-getter at linebacker, finishing directly ahead of Fred Warner, Roquan Smith, Frankie Luvu, and Bobby Wagner. Baun is going to get a nice contract this offseason. Will the Eagles pay him? I tend to think they’re not going to let a first-team All-Pro defender walk out of the door.
  • Baun is the Eagles’ first first-team All-Pro linebacker since Jeremiah Trotter in 2000. He’s only their fifth-ever first-team All-Pro linebacker. Previously: Trotter (2000), Bill Bergey (1975, 1974), Maxie Baughan (1964), and Chuck Bednarik (1960, 1954, 1953, 1952, 1951, 1950).
  • Brown didn’t make the Pro Bowl this year, lol. This marks the third straight year he’s been second-team All-Pro. This year, he was behind Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. It’ll be shocking if A.J. never makes first-team All-Pro, should only be a matter of time.
  • Mailata didn’t make the Pro Bowl, either. Instead, he’ll have to settle for his first career All-Pro recognition. Tristan Wirfs made it over him for first-team All-Pro.
  • This is Johnson’s third career second-team All-Pro inclusion. He previously made that in 2021 and 2023. Johnson was first-team All-Pro in 2017 and 2022. This year, Penei Sewell made first-team All-Pro over Johnson.
  • It seems silly that the Eagles have the best offensive line in the NFL and a 2K running back … and yet none of their starting offensive linemen made first-team All-Pro. Lack of proper representation.
  • Carter being second-team All-Pro in just his second season shouldn’t be taken for granted. It took Fletcher Cox three seasons to earn his first All-Pro honors. The future is bright for Carter if he continues to progress.
  • Cooper DeJean finished third in slot cornerback voting behind Marlon Humphrey and Derwin James.
  • Other Eagles players who earned All-Pro votes: LG Landon Dickerson, C Cam Jurgens, RG Mekhi Becton, CB Quinyon Mitchell, S C.J. Gardner-Johnson, LB Nakobe Dean, and ST Kelee Ringo.
